    Chief Scientific Officer

    Dr. Gupta is the Chief Scientific Officer at GVK BIO. He joined GVK BIO in 2006 as Senior Vice President- Biology and Collaborative Research, bringing more than 23 years of scientific and industrial experience to the company.

    Dr. Gupta is responsible for developing a flexible model of Collaborative Research in Drug Discovery, capable of delivering efficient and cost effective IND candidates.

    He is also on the Board of Aragen Bioscience. Prior to GVK BIO, Dr. Gupta was the Vice President, Urology Research at Bayer Healthcare, responsible for research and new target identification for Urology and coronary artery diseases. He was leading the Bayer-Millennium collaboration of gene mining for new targets in Urology. He held the position of Director Pharmacology at Ranbaxy where he was involved in discovery and out-licensing of Benign Hyperplasia clinical candidate to Schwarz Pharma, Germany. Dr. Gupta has 18 PCT/US patents, seven IND candidates and more than 30 research articles in peer reviewed journals to his credit.

    Dr. Gupta holds a Ph.D. in Pharmacology form the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi and a Postdoctoral Fellowship from College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan, Canada.

    President

    Sudhir is the President, Discovery and Development services at GVK BIO. He is responsible for the overall strategy, operations and growth in the Discovery and Development business.

    He joined GVK BIO in 2013 as Senior Vice President and brings 25 years of Drug Discovery and research knowledge to GVK BIO.

    Prior to GVK BIO, Sudhir was the Chief Operating Officer, Jubilant Chemsys Limited and held Senior Management positions at Aurigene Discovery Technologies and Ranbaxy Laboratories.

    Sudhir holds a Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry from Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow and Postdoctoral Research work from SUNY College – (Buffalo) New York, University of Alabama at Birmingham and Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia. He was also a part of the research and teaching teams at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, School of Pharmacy. He has several patents and scientific publications to his credit.

    Lakshman holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai.

    He has over 20 years of Post-Ph.D. experience in academia, big pharma, pharma start-ups and contract research organizations. Prior to joining GVK BIO, Lakshman was associated with Sai Life Sciences, ARTA Biosciences and Pfizer Inc. He has several peer-reviewed scientific publications to his credit.

    Hemant holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from University of Kentucky, USA. He has over 18 years of industrial research experience.

    Hemant has a track record of delivering two clinical and four pre-clinical candidates. His scientific expertise spans across therapeutic areas such as oncology, metabolic disorders and CNS. Prior to joining GVK BIO, Hemant was associated with Jubilant Biosys, Evotec, Altana and Glenmark Pharma.

  • SOMESH SHARMA, Ph.D.

    Vice President

    Somesh holds a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Kurukshetra University and an MBA in Marketing from ICFAI, Hyderabad. He has over 14 years of experience in Medicinal Chemistry and Chemistry Services.

    Prior to joining GVK BIO, he was associated with Jubilant Chemsys Limited, Nicholas Piramal Research Centre and Ranbaxy Research Laboratories. He has several patents and scientific publications to his credit.

  • VIJAYA TIRUNAGARU, Ph.D.

    Associate Vice President

    Vijaya holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), Hyderabad and a Post-Doctoral Fellowship from Wister Institute, Philadelphia and University of Delaware, Newark.

    She has over 10 years of experience in neuroscience research. Prior to joining GVK BIO, Vijaya was associated with AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, Wilmington.

    Krishna holds a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from National Chemical Laboratory, Pune. He has completed his Post-Doctoral Research from the Department of Chemistry, Academia Sinica, Taipei and Laboratoire de Chimie Molèculaire et Thio-organique, LCMT-ISMRA, University of Caen, France.

    He has over 20 years of academic and industrial research experience. Prior to joining GVK BIO, Krishna was associated with CiVentiChem, USA. He has many scientific publications in journals of international repute to his credit.

    Premkumar Arumugam holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Virology from Madurai Kamaraj University and Post-Doctoral Fellowship from Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel.

    Having established himself as an expert in Molecular Neuro-Pharmacologist and Pain Receptor Biologist in the academia, Premkumar joined GVK Biosciences 7 years ago and is currently heading the In-vitro Biology and Reagent Generation team. He has published several research papers in peer reviewed journals to his credit.

    Pratima holds a Ph.D. in Life Sciences from the Biochemistry Division, Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI) and Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship from the University of Texas, San Antonio and Roswell Park Cancer Institute, New York.

    She has over 21 years of research experience in the field of Molecular Biology, Pharmacokinetics, Drug Metabolism, Pharmacogenomics and Malaria Biochemistry. Prior to joining GVK BIO, Pratima was associated with Lupin Ltd. and Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI).
