Sudhir Kumar Singh

Sudhir Kumar Singh, Ph.D., Executive Vice President, Discovery Services

Sudhir is an accomplished scientific management professional with over 20 years of comprehensive drug discovery and scientific operations experience. He co-founded Jubilant Chemsys. He has a strong background in medicinal chemistry, drug discovery & development and quality assurance. Prior to joining GVK BIO, he was associated with Jubilant Chemsys Ltd, Noida as Senior Vice President and Chief Operations Officer, leading a large team of scientists for the discovery and development services. He established new capabilities and technologies to meet the growing demand of the drug discovery industry. Prior to Jubilant, he also worked with companies like Aurigene Discovery Technologies and Ranbaxy Research Laboratories. Sudhir completed his Ph.D., in Medicinal Chemistry from Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow and Post-Doctoral Research work from various universities like SUNY College – (Buffalo) New York, University of Alabama at Birmingham and Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia. Sudhir was also part of the research and teaching teams at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, School of Pharmacy. He has several patents and scientific publications to his credit

Lakshman Rajagopalan

Lakshman Rajagopalan, Ph.D., Vice President

Lakshman is a highly experienced Biologist and Pharmacologist with over 20 years of post-Ph.D. experience in Academia, Big Pharma, Pharma Start-ups and CROs in the United States and India. Before joining GVK BIO, he was instrumental in building the Discovery – Biology Services department at Sai Life Sciences, Pune from the ground-up and providing valuable drug discovery support for a global network of clients. During his tenure, he also contributed in crucial business development and program management roles to recruit new clients and to help existing clients achieve their critical milestones. Prior to Sai Life Sciences, Lakshman worked in a start-up environment at ARTA Biosciences USA, where he helped the company obtain its seed funding and managed all aspects of its internal drug discovery programs and outsourcing needs. Lakshman started his industry career with Pfizer Inc. USA, where he spent 11 years and demonstrated success in leading cross-functional drug discovery teams involved in all aspects of drug discovery from early inception to lead optimization and clinical candidate selection. He has a broad inflammation-based disease area expertise across Autoimmune, Respiratory, Fibrotic and Neuro-inflammatory diseases. Lakshman obtained his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and MSc in Organic Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. He has several peer-reviewed scientific publications to his credit.

Somesh Sharma

Somesh Sharma, Ph.D., Associate Vice President

Somesh Sharma is an accomplished Scientific Professional with a Ph.D., in Organic Chemistry from Kurukshetra University and an MBA in Marketing. He has over 14 years of experience in Medicinal Chemistry and Chemistry Services. He has expertise in drug discovery in anti-fungal / urology /oncology- in both in-house Drug Discovery programs and CRO services. He has a strong track record of delivering clinical candidate and preclinical leads for clinical development. He has several patents and scientific publications to his credit. Prior to joining us, he was associated with Jubilant Chemsys Limited, Noida as a Director and was responsible for Chemistry Services and Integrated Medicinal Chemistry platforms. He earlier has worked with companies like Nicholas Piramal Research Centre and Ranbaxy Research Laboratories (now Daichii Sankya India Ltd.).

Krishna Ethiraj

Krishna S. Ethiraj, Ph.D., Director

Krishna S. Ethiraj has a Ph.D., in Organic Chemistry from National Chemical Laboratory, a reputed CSIR institute located in Pune, India. After completing his Ph.D., he did his Post-Doctoral Research from the Department of Chemistry, Academia Sinica, Taipei, Taiwan and later at Laboratoire de Chimie Molèculaire et Thio-organique, LCMT-ISMRA, University of Caen, France. He completed his M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry from Department of Chemistry, University of Pune, India. On the whole, he has around 20 years of academic and industrial research experience working in the area of Synthetic Organic Chemistry involving: synthesis of Biologically Active Compounds, Heterocyclic Chemistry, development of Synthetic Methodologies, Asymmetric Synthesis, metal mediated Organic Transformations, synthesis of Large & Focus Library of Compounds, etc. Krishna joined GVK BIO in 2007 as a Principal Scientist and prior to joining GVK BIO, he worked as a Senior Research Scientist at CiVentiChem, a CRO company at Research Triangle Park, Cary, North Carolina, US. He has many scientific publications in journals of international repute to his credit.

Premkumar Arumugam

Premkumar Arumugam, Ph.D., Director

Premkumar Arumugam received his Ph.D., degree in Molecular virology from Madurai Kamaraj University, India. After his graduation he joined as a Post Doctoral Fellow at Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel. At Weizmann, he conducted a research on neurodegenerative disorders and acquired skills in Molecular Neuroscience and Molecular Pharmacology. To further his research on Neuroscience and GPCR biology he then joined the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Institute (MSKCC) at New York and carried out research on the role of Opioid receptors in pain management and drug addiction at MSKCC, he also investigated the protein-protein interactions among different GPCR’s using various molecular and biochemical techniques. Besides his own projects, he has also actively collaborated with various research groups within and outside USA. Having established himself as an expertise Molecular Neuro-Pharmacologist and pain receptor biologist in the academia, Premkumar joined GVK Biosciences 7 years ago and currently heading in vitro biology and reagent generation team. To his credit he has published several research papers in peer reviewed journals.

Pratima Srivastava

Pratima Srivastava, Ph.D., Associate Director

Pratima is a Ph.D., in Life Sciences from the Biochemistry Division of CDRI and a Post Doctoral Research fellow from the University of Texas, San Antonio and Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Buffalo from New York. Pratima is an accomplished scientific management professional with around 21 years of comprehensive research experience in the field of Molecular Biology, Pharmacokinetics, Drug Metabolism, Pharmacogenomics and Malaria Biochemistry. She has carried out research in Pharmacokinetics and Drug Metabolism in relation to new drug entities and herbal preparations right from drug discovery to development. Prior to joining us she was associated with Lupin Research Park, Pune and with Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI) from Lucknow. She has established DMPK and Pharmacogenomics Departments. Her accomplishments include 52 Scientific Publications in International Journals and 25 patents to her credit. Pratima is also a member of several international and national professional societies and institutes. Pratima has a vast experience in various academics as well as 10 reputed national and international awards to her credit.
