Davinder S. Brar joined GVK Biosciences as a Promoter Chairman in 2004. He has 30 years of experience in the Pharma/Life-sciences industry. He played a significant role in building Ranbaxy (India’s largest Pharma Company) into a globally recognized Generics company with a pipeline of specialty and innovator (NCE) drugs. He is also involved with several international Pharma/Life-sciences companies in consulting/advisory role through Davix Management Services Pvt. Ltd
G.V. Sanjay Reddy the Vice-Chairman of GVK BIO, has spearheaded GVK’s foray into the life-sciences domain. Since inception, he has led GVK BIO through the initial phases of evolution with remarkable success. He was responsible for putting the right scientific talent, leadership, processes and infrastructure in place to ensure continuous growth.
Business Heads
Manni Kantipudi is the Chief Executive Officer of GVK Biosciences. He brings a unique blend of services, international management and product development experience. He has done his Bachelors in Computer Engineering and Masters in Computer Science. He has spent 15 years with Intel Corporation in various leadership positions in the US and Asia. He was responsible for setting up Intel’s engineering presence in India. He was CIO of Intel for Asia where he managed a large team of professionals servicing the IT needs of the greater Asia region. He was Director of Software for Intel’s Centrino product line (one of the most successful product lines for Intel) where he brought to market successful products in high volume.
Ganesh Venkatraman is the Chief Financial Officer for GVK Biosciences and Inogent. As the CFO he oversees the Finance, Legal, Secretarial and IT functions. A Chartered & Cost Accountant, Ganesh is also a qualified Company Secretary. He brings with him deep service industry experience having worked for 10+ years with Wipro. Ganesh joins GVK BIO from Trianz Consulting where he served as the Global CFO – IT & Consulting. At Wipro, he was the Head Financial Planning & Analysis and prior to that held various leadership positions in associate companies of Wipro.
J.B. Gupta Ph.D. heads the Biology SBU and Collaborative Research initiatives of GVK BIO. He is a Ph.D. in Pharmacology and has more than 15 years of industry experience. He was instrumental in the discovery, clinical development and out licensing of Ranbaxy’s BPH molecule to Schwarz Pharma. Prior to joining GVK BIO, he was a member of Bayer’s International Research Committee and headed several teams as Vice President - Urology and Head of Coronary Heart Diseases at Bayer Research Centers in Japan and Germany. He has 20 PCT/US patent applications and four clinical candidates to his credit.
J A R P Sarma Ph.D. heads the Informatics SBU at GVK BIO. He has a Ph.D. from the University of Hyderabad and had been associated with leading institutions like IICT, Hyderabad, ETH, Zurich, Switzerland; Ben-Gurion University of the Negave, Beer-Sheva, Israel and Du Pont, US. He has worked on a number of projects in the areas of rational drug design and agro-products design by analogue and structure based methods, Single-crystal X-ray Crystallography, Polymorphism, Phase Transitions, Solid State Reactivity, Catalysis. He has 5 patents and has 60 published research papers in reputed international journals.
Balaram Patro Ph.D . heads the MedChem SBU at GVK BIO. He is a Ph.D. in Chemistry. Post education he joined Universtät Konstanz, Germany as an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow working in the area of carbohydrate chemistry. He then moved to University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, where he worked in the field of radical chemistry and total synthesis of vinblastine and vincristine class of alkaloids. Prior to joining GVK BIO, he was associated with Chemgen Pharma Research in Kolkata. He has a long list of publications to his credit.
John Ellingboe is the Senior Vice President, Discovery Chemistry at GVK BIO. John leads the Medicinal Chemistry efforts of GVK BIO’s collaborative research programs. Prior to joining GVK BIO, Dr. Ellingboe worked with Wyeth Research and Pfizer for 25 years in senior scientific positions and has extensive background in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery. During the course of his time at Wyeth, he established a core parallel synthesis group, a lead identification group, and an integrated medicinal chemistry group working in all phases of drug discovery. His responsibilities included the identification of leads and development candidates across multiple therapeutic areas and leading a department across several research sites. The chemistry group worked closely with screening sciences, computational chemistry, X-ray crystallography, and drug safety and metabolism groups to identify optimal development candidates. While at Wyeth, he initiated and managed a large chemistry partnership with GVK BIO. Dr. Ellingboe received his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Reed College and a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from MIT. He has over 150 publications, presentations and patents to his name.
