G.V. Sanjay Reddy the Managing Director of GVK BIO, has spearheaded GVK’s foray into the life-sciences domain. Since inception, he has led GVK BIO through the initial phases of evolution with remarkable success. He was responsible for putting the right scientific talent, leadership, processes and infrastructure in place to ensure continuous growth.

Davinder S. Brar joined GVK Biosciences as a Promoter Chairman in 2004. He has 30 years of experience in the Pharma/Life-sciences industry. He played a significant role in building Ranbaxy (India’s largest Pharma Company) into a globally recognized Generics company with a pipeline of specialty and innovator (NCE) drugs. He is also involved with several international Pharma/Life-sciences companies in consulting/advisory role through Davix Management Services Pvt. Ltd

Business Heads

Manni Kantipudi joined GVK BIO as the President in 2007. He brings a unique blend of services, international management and product development experience. He has done his Bachelors in Computer Engineering and Masters in Computer Science. He has spent 15 years with Intel Corporation in various leadership positions in the US and Asia. He was responsible for setting up Intel’s engineering presence in India. He was CIO of Intel for Asia where he managed a large team of professionals servicing the IT needs of the greater Asia region. He was Director of Software for Intel’s Centrino product line (one of the most successful product lines for Intel) where he brought to market successful products in high volume.

Balaram Patro Ph.D. is a Vice President with MedChem SBU at GVK BIO. He is a Ph.D. in Chemistry. Post education he joined Universtät Konstanz, Germany as an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow working in the area of carbohydrate chemistry. He then moved to University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, where he worked in the field of radical chemistry and total synthesis of vinblastine and vincristine class of alkaloids. Prior to joining GVK BIO, he was associated with Chemgen Pharma Research in Kolkata. He has a long list of publications to his credit.

K.C. Pullaiah Ph.D. is a Director with the MedChem SBU. He has done his Ph.D.(in the area of isolation and structural elucidation of Natural Products from Marine Algae & Sponges) from Andhra University and started as a Research Associate at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and worked for three years in the area of Natural Products synthesis. He has more than ten years of Industrial experience in the area of Process Research at Nicholas Piramal India Limited, Dishman Pharmaceticals and Alembic. He has been associated with GVK BIO since the inception of MedChem SBU and has 8 publications to his credit.

Srinivasa Rao Ph.D. is a Director with the MedChem SBU. He is a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Mysore University. In course of his career he has been associated with several Pharma Research companies like Cipla, Astra IDL, Vittal Mallaya Scientific Research Foundation and Drachem Specialty. He has been with GVK BIO since March 2003 and is responsible for the synthesis and supply of several novel compounds. He has numerous patents and publications to his credit.

J A R P Sarma Ph.D. heads the Informatics SBU at GVK BIO. He has a Ph.D. from the University of Hyderabad and had been associated with leading institutions like IICT, Hyderabad, ETH, Zurich, Switzerland; Ben-Gurion University of the Negave, Beer-Sheva, Israel and Du Pont, US. He has worked on a number of projects in the areas of rational drug design and agro-products design by analogue and structure based methods, Single-crystal X-ray Crystallography, Polymorphism, Phase Transitions, Solid State Reactivity, Catalysis. He has 5 patents and has 60 published research papers in reputed international journals.

Shabbir Rangwala heads the Clinical Operations and Data Management SBU. He is Masters in Pharmacology. He has over 10 years of international and domestic experience in clinical operations, clinical data management, regulatory services and Drug Development programs. Prior to joining GVK BIO, he was associated with i-Gate Clinical Research, Mumbai and Eli Lilly & Co at various locations like Hong Kong, Sydney and New Delhi. He represented Asia as Eli Lilly set up its Asia Pacific data management center at Sydney, Australia. He was also responsible for defining business outsourcing processes and standards for Indian CROs while at Eli Lilly India.

J.B. Gupta Ph.D. heads the Biology SBU and Collaborative Research initiatives of GVK BIO. He is a Ph.D. in Pharmacology and has more than 15 years of industry experience. He was instrumental in the discovery, clinical development and out licensing of Ranbaxy’s BPH molecule to Schwarz Pharma. Prior to joining GVK BIO, he was a member of Bayer’s International Research Committee and headed several teams as Vice President - Urology and Head of Coronary Heart Diseases at Bayer Research Centers in Japan and Germany. He has 20 PCT/US patent applications and four clinical candidates to his credit.

R. Buchi Reddy Ph.D. heads Inogent Labs as Senior Vice President. He is a Ph.D. in Chemistry and has a PG Diploma in Intellectual Property Management. During his 10 years stint at Dr. Reddy’s Labs (DRL) he was instrumental in developing innovative technologies for various bulk drugs and intermediates. He has headed analytical R&D, new product development, intellectual property management and project management teams at DRL. He was associated with Bio-arc Research Solutions, an Alembic company, before joining GVK BIO/Inogent. He has more than 20 years of industrial experience, eight years of academic experience in addition to three Ph.Ds., 30 publications and 94 patents to his credit.

Narendra Mallakunta is Senior Vice President of Business Development at GVK BIO. He has over 21 years of experience in virtually all aspects of marketing, operations and business development. He has a Masters in Applied Sciences. Prior to joining GVK BIO, he was heading the business development function at GVK Industries, primarily in the infrastructure sector. He has also worked with Asea Brown Boveri, Sri U Thong (a Thai MNC) and BHEL before joining GVK Industries. He was instrumental in building GVK BIO’s MedChem business from inception and is responsible for expanding the market for GVK BIO services in the US, Europe and Japan.

Sreeni Devidas Ph.D. is Vice President of Business Development at GVK BIO. He is an International expert on strategy, business development and ventures in the Life-sciences domain. He is a doctorate from the Johns Hopkins University, School of Medicine, where he worked with Nobel Laureates Peter Agre and William Guggino. Post education he worked as Senior Biotechnology Consultant at McKinsey & Company in the US and Europe. Prior to GVK BIO, he worked with Ingenuity Systems, Jubilant Biosys and Strand Genomics. He has over 30 publications and invited reviews to his credit.

Ranjan Chakrabarti Ph.D. heads the Biology SBU. He is a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Ind Inst Of Chem Biol and has 13 years of Industrial experience in drug discovery. He was a key player in discovery, development and outlicencing Dr. Reddy’s 2 Metabolic Disorder molecules to Novo Nordisk & Novartis. He also has 7 years of Academic Research experience at SUNY, Buffalo & Univ of Massachusetts Med Ctr, USA. Prior to joining GVK BIO, he was heading Discovery Biology & Metabolic Disorder Team at Dr. Reddy’s Drug Discovery Research at Hyderabad. He has 32 US Patents, 50 Publications and 5 clinical candidates (P-1 to P-3) to his credit.

Ramakrishna Kasturi is the Company Secretary and also heads Legal Affairs. He is a Post graduate in Commerce, Fellow member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India, member of Institute of Cost & works Accountants of India and Indian Institute of Bankers and a Law graduate. He has been a Company Secretary for over 15 years and served reputed companies like Amara Raja Batteries Ltd., Fenner (India) Limited,etc. In his assignments with various companies, apart from being Company Secretary, he handled legal affairs, accounts and finance.

Sailendra Kumar Goswami Ph.D. has joined GVK BIO as Vice President - M&A and Strategy, Clinical Development. He heads the Clinical Pharmacology Unit. He is a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from Gujarat University and has PG Diplomas in Marketing and Human Resources Management as well as a Diploma in Business Management. He has more than 13 years of CRO and pharmaceutical industry experience in clinical research spanning all the phases with deep experience in Clinical Pharmacology. Goswami earlier worked as CEO of Veeda Clinical Research Pvt. Ltd. and played a key role right from its inception to making it a global player in a short span of time. He brings with him research and academic experience and has several research paper publications and presentations to his credit.
