Accumulation of extracellular matrix in organs and tissues is an important component of normal repair process. In uncontrolled situations, it turns in to fibrosis of organs and tissues due to excessive accumulation of extracellular matrix, changes their normal structure and function leading to disruption of affected organ and tissues function. These undesired changes can happen to any organ or tissues and are associated with wide varieties of diseases and leading cause of morbidity and mortality. Non-alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH), chronic kidney disease (CKD) and Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) are few examples of fibrotic disease of liver, kidney and lungs respectively for which no effective treatment is available.
